This Week’s Biggest Looks at Upcoming Movies

It’s been another explosive week for trailers, with a string of new releases giving us a taste of what’s to come, offering a fresh glimpse at what’s in store for the rest of the year. From festival releases that have already gained rave reviews in advance of their theatrical releases to much-awaited repeat collaborations, the trailers of this week give us plenty to look forward to. 

The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth

Netflix released the first official trailer of The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, the much-awaited sequel to Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood (2019). Directed by David Fincher and written by Tarantino, the film shows Brad Pitt reprising his role as Cliff Booth, a body double, in 1977, when Hollywood has changed.

Other cast members include Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Peter Weller. The upcoming Cliff Booth film has attracted growing interest since its 2024 announcement, especially after the original won two Oscars: one for Pitt in Supporting Actor and another for Barbara Ling and Nancy Haigh for Production Design. 

The film’s IMAX premiere is scheduled for November 25, for two weeks, followed by a Netflix release on December 23.  

Ray Gunn

The official trailer for another Netflix release has arrived. Brad Bird’s sci-fi animated movie Ray Gunn, whose well-known credits include Oscar-winning The Incredibles (2004) and Ratatouille (2007). According to Deadline, Bird said the film is a 30-year passion project set in Metropia, a huge futuristic city where humans and aliens live together. The story follows a private detective pulled into a murder case involving a multimedia star. 

Featuring voices from Sam Rockwell, Scarlett Johansson, and Tom Waits, the film will get a limited 70mm theatrical release on December 4, before launching on its platform on December 18. 

Paper Tiger

Neon revealed the official trailer for James Gray’s Paper Tiger. Written and directed by Gray, it follows two brothers who come to America in pursuit of their American dream. However, after getting caught in the dangerous web of the Russian mafia, their family is put at risk.  

Starring Adam Driver, Miles Teller, and Scarlett Johansson, the film initially premiered at the Cannes Film Festival this May and will now begin its theatrical run on November 13. 

Wild Horse Nine

Searchlight Pictures has also introduced an official trailer for Wild Horse Nine, which recently premiered at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. Martin McDonagh’s dark spy comedy received a 15-minute ovation, and John Malkovich won the fest’s Volpi Cup Best Actor Award. 

Taking place just before the 1973 Chilean coup, two CIA agents are dispatched from Santiago to Easter Island by their bureau chief, where their newfound bond with two students threatens to derail their mission while grappling with their dark pasts and present conspiracies. 

The film brings together Malkovich, Sam Rockwell, Steve Buscemi, Tom Waits, and Parker Posey. The pic will hit theaters on November 6, 2026.   

Clayface

DC Studios has given audiences their final full look at James Watkins’ Clayface, with the trailer generating excitement by keeping his ultimate transformation a mystery. The first-ever body-horror take on the classic Batman villain involves a rising Hollywood star, Matt Hagen, whose face is his selling point. His face is brutally disfigured by a local crime boss, after which he turns to another scientist working on a regenerative serum.  

Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini wrote the screenplay. The movie’s cast includes Tom Rhys Harries, Naomi Ackie, Ruby Sear, Eddie Marsan, Max Minghella, Sonita Henry, Sam Hazeldine, and Tanya Moodie. The film heads to theaters on October 23, 2026. 

Day Drinker

Lionsgate has lifted the curtain with a teaser for its upcoming revenge thriller from Marc Webb’s Day Drinker, Johnny Depp and Penélope Cruz’s fourth collaboration. The plot centers on a chance meeting between a yacht bartender and a mysterious guest that turns dangerous when they become entangled with a criminal figure. 

Alongside Depp and Cruz, the cast lineup includes Madelyn Cline, Marc Webb, Javier Botet, Robert Maaser, Jean-Marc Barr, and Brahim Chab. Day Drinker hits big screens on March 26, 2027, while another Depp-starring project, Ti West’s Ebezener, is set to arrive on November 13.
