A.V. Rockwell’s directorial feature debut A Thousand and One premiered at Sundance Film Festival earlier in 2023 and is currently out in theaters. The film follows unapologetic and fiercely loyal Inez who kidnaps her son Terry from the foster care system, and the mother and son set out to reclaim their sense of home, identity, and stability, in a rapidly changing New York City. Joined by film critic and writer Derrick Murray, we review the film and Teyana Taylor’s breakout leading role at the center.
