On Monday, The Academy released that it will require voters to watch all nominated films before final voting.
Members will be able to access final ballots after they confirm they watched all nominated films. Viewing will be monitored through The Academy’s members-only streaming platform. If members viewed the films at other events, such as festivals or private screenings, they will have to submit an official form indicating they watched the film.
Within its release, the Academy also outlines its additional new inclusion of the Achievement in Casting Award and rules on the use of generative AI.
The nomination period will be from January. 12th to January 16th. Official nominees will be announced January. 22nd. Final voting will open February 26th.
The 98th Oscars Ceremony will be hosted by Conan O’Brien on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
