Marvel’s first family has finally assembled.

After months of rampant speculation, Marvel Studios put the rumor mill to rest on Valentine’s Day. Via their social media channels, the studio announced the core cast of The Fantastic Four (2025) consists of Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm.

The four stars have been reported front-runners for the film since last fall. The news comes less than a week after director Matt Shakman shared a post on his personal Instagram account confirming Pascal as Mr. Fantastic after an official SAG-AFTRA publication affirmed it. Shortly after Shakman made this post, his entire account was found deleted, creating further postulation.

The Fantastic Four is one of four movies Marvel has planned to release in 2025, along with Captain America: Brave New World (2025), Thunderbolts (2025), and Blade (2025). Along with the casting news came official word that Thunderbolts and The Fantastic Four are swapping release dates. The Fantastic Four was originally due for release on May 2, 2025, but it will now be released on July 25, 2025.

Marvel’s post illustrates the actors in a 1960s aesthetic, similar to the style in which the characters originated. Even the new official logo for the film revealed in the post carries a lighthearted 60s tone. This detail raises the question of whether the film will exist as a period piece.

More details may be revealed for The Fantastic Four and other films in Marvel’s slate in April during the annual CinemaCon event in Las Vegas, where every major studio promotes its movies for the upcoming year and beyond. Perhaps it will be here that Marvel will next reveal who will be playing the film’s main antagonist, Doctor Doom.
