Almost 2 months removed from the 97th Academy Awards, we’re taking a way-too-early first glance at the slate of potential contenders for the year ahead. We’ll evaluate films that could be priorities later in the year for major studios, the Cannes lineup as the first major festival in just a few titles, wild card independent titles that may still be looking for distribution, and anything in between that could potentially factor into the race for the 98th Academy Awards, featuring a newly minted 24th category for Best Casting.
