Toby Perl Freilich's Maintenance Artist follows NYC's first Sanitation Department artist-in-residence, Mierle Laderman Ukeles, who blends art with waste management in Maintenance Artist, exploring her groundbreaking public art career. The film is playing in the Documentary Competition at Tribeca and we had the opportunity to discuss the film and development with its subject with the director.
