With just over two months until celebrities will begin to line the red carpet in Cannes, France at the city’s annual and prestigious film festivals, conversations continue to swirl on what films will, or will not, be joining the lineup.
Among the films to have been reported as unlikely to debut are Kirill Serebrennikov’s Limonov, Sean Durkin’s Iron Claw, and Kate Winslet’s Lee Miller biopic Lee. In addition, it is reported to have been confirmed that the previously rumored How Do You Live? from Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki will also not be heading to the Croisette.
With the buzz surrounding the festival’s upcoming lineup announcement, speculation is an annual component regarding projects that may show up at Cannes. Coming off the unrealized social media spike about a potential secret David Lynch project last year, Wim Wenders is now the source of speculation at the forefront of the Cannes rumors with a potential secret project in the works to premiere.
This rumor has not been confirmed, but with a deep history spanning five decades at Cannes, if the German auteur is going to premiere a new project, Cannes would seem to be the likely location.
