Something wicked this way comes–part two.
Universal Pictures has released the first full trailer for Wicked: For Good, the second installment in the long-awaited two-part film adaptation of the long-running Broadway musical Wicked. The trailer debuted today, June 4, 2025, following a teaser released yesterday featuring character introductions and a special one-day theatrical re-release of the first Wicked film, also on June 4. We previously reviewed Wicked here.
Directed by Jon M. Chu, Wicked: For Good is scheduled for theatrical release on November 21, 2025. The film continues the story of Elphaba and Glinda, portrayed by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, respectively, as their paths diverge amidst political turmoil in Oz. The cast also includes Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Ethan Slater as Boq, and Marissa Bode as Nessarose. The film was shot back-to-back with the first entry, allowing for the quick turnaround on its release date a year later.
The sequel adapts the second act of the original stage production, exploring events that intersect with the classic Wizard of Oz narrative. The trailer release coincides with the upcoming Tony Awards on June 8, which will be hosted by Cynthia Erivo. This event is expected to further promote the film ahead of its November release.
Wicked: For Good follows the success of the first film, which premiered in November 2024, grossed over $747 million worldwide, and received ten Academy Award nominations.
The newly released trailer is available for viewing on Universal Pictures’ official platforms.
