One-location films often utilize enclosed settings to create a specific element of tension as if the characters are trapped within a space for the narrative to unfold. Joined by guest Manning Franks we discuss two films that are quintessential examples of the single-location setting technique, 12 Angry Men and Rear Window. Sidney Lumet and Alfred Hitchcock respectively master the closed setting of their films in order to reveal character traits and force character actions in response to the walled-in nature of their current world.
