The International Film Society Critics Association (IFSCA) has announced its winners for its 6th annual IFSCA Awards. In January, the nominations were announced, with Sinners leading with 23 nominations and One Battle After Another following with 15. Other significant nomination leaders included Frankenstein with 12, The Testament of Ann Lee with eight, and Train Dreams and Sorry, Baby with four.
The winners followed suit, with Sinners taking the top prize of Best Picture for a total of eight wins in comparison to three for One Battle After Another. Hamnet and Sentimental Value both won two performance categories, with Sentimental Value adding a third win in the “Exceeding (One-Inch) Barriers” category. Frankenstein dominated the crafts, winning Costume Design, Production Design, and Makeup and Hairstyling.
The IFSCA comprises a 111-member body with critics in countries worldwide. Notably, the group does not include a typical “International Feature” category, as American productions would be “international” to many of the group’s members. The group also features unique categories in comparison to the Academy Awards, including Genre categories (Action, Horror/Sci-Fi, and Comedy/Musical), Stunts/Choreography, Youth Performance, Ensemble Cast, and Body of Work.
