It’s feeling humid. It’s feeling like summer is very nearly upon us. That of course, means it’s time for us to reconvene for our second annual summer box office draft. With the release of The Devil Wears Prada 2 this past weekend, the summer movie season is now in full swing. We are here today to try to predict where the box office will go and just have a fun time breaking down the slate and discussing which movies have each of us the most excited.
We discuss the chronological releases of movies on our radar between the first weekend of May and the end of August, but also each team member on the show has prepared a list of their predicted top ten box office earners of the summer, along with their predicted total worldwide gross.
Last year, our champion was Ethan Dayton, who won on the first iteration of our point system which was simply a point for the correct placement of a film in the top 10 box office earners of the summer, as well as a point for being within plus or minus $50 million of a film’s total worldwide gross. This year we’re significantly expanding the point system to add a lot more chaos and entertainment into the mix.
We’ll review everyone’s final lists and continue checking in throughout the summer to see who is on track for winning our draft by Labor Day in September.
