Amid changes to its release calendar for the next two years, Disney announced dates for several films that previously had unknown windows from The Hollywood Reporter.

On Friday, Disney confirmed Toy Story 5 (2026) will hit theaters on June 19, 2026. The project is one of several sequels the studio revealed was in the works in February 2023, alongside Inside Out 2 (2024), Zootopia 2 (2025), and Frozen 3 (2026). The push toward sequels to reliable properties indicates a play by Disney CEO Bob Iger to regain the trust of moviegoers while giving the company a guaranteed boost in revenue. Toy Story, Frozen, and Zootopia are all billion-dollar franchises.

Although Moana is not yet one of the studio’s billion-dollar franchises, the Mouse House is going all in on the adventurous seafarer. Aside from a direct sequel to the 2016 film due for release this November, a live-action remake of the original was announced in April 2023. The Dwayne Johnson-produced film moves over a year from June 27, 2025, to July 10, 2026.

Disney also announced dates for Tron: Ares (2025) from director Joachim Rønning and 20th Century’s The Amateur (2025). The Jared Leto-starring sequel to Tron (1982) and Tron: Legacy (2010) releases Oct. 10, 2025. The espionage thriller starring Rami Malek and Rachel Brosnahan moves away from its award season date of Nov. 8, 2024, to April 11, 2025.

The studio also confirmed audiences will be able to visit a galaxy far, far away in theaters once again on May 22, 2026, with The Mandalorian & Grogu (2026). The outing from director Jon Favreau, which will take the Mandalorian saga from Disney+ to the big screen, will be the first theatrical release for the Star Wars franchise since The Rise of Skywalker (2019). Lucasfilm has announced several theatrical projects since then, but none have jumped to lightspeed.

One such project is director James Mangold’s Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi, announced in April 2023. The epic Odyssey, which will delve into the mythical origins of the force 25,000 years before any previously explored Star Wars era, just gained some positive momentum. Screenwriter Beau Willimon has joined the venture as a co-writer.

Willimon is an accomplished screenwriter and playwright who already gained experience in the Star Wars galaxy when he wrote three episodes of Andor (2022-). He received an Emmy nomination for his work on the episode titled “One Way Out.” The episode is regarded by many as the best of the show’s premiere season. Now is the perfect time to catch up on the series and any other Disney properties on Disney+ before the streaming service begins implementing its password-sharing crackdown in June.
